What clutch to go with?

Okay, I need a new clutch, but can't decide who to use CM or ACT, Theres a groupbuy on act right now with good prices, but some many different setups.. I want some that can take the abuse, but still driveable with the same or a little more stiffer engagement.

I got the ACT on mine. I have the Xtreme clutch with the extra pressure plate. I got the kit from Comptech. Since Acura was replacing my tranny I figured I should have them install the Comptech/ACT clutch since Comptech items are covered under factory warrenty. Anyhow Comptech marks up the ACT clutch some, but not a lot. Its worth the piece of mind since Acura now has my drive train/tranny under warrenty again!
BTW- Everyone that has felt my clutch admits its one of the best clutches they have seen.

Rboosted, your so lucky, wish my clutch would fry unexpectantly and be covered under warranty, but knowing my luck, i would have to pay for it anyhow, but who knows, maybe me and larry from acura can work something out. but i'm not trying to get the acura foreman fired or anything..............

I'm not lucky! Actually one day I drove down the street after now driving my car for a few days and suddently my car started to grind when shifting into 3rd gear under hard acceleration. So I made a appintment with Acura and they test drove it. Well of course it was the syncro's. See blowing the syncro's on R's is a VERY common thing for some reason. Anyhow Acura decided to blame it on my flywheel. Anyhow after many days of fighting they decided to ccover it as a one time deal. Since my stock clutch didn't like 200+whp I decided to change it at that time to save labor costs. So Acura put the new clutch in for free since the clutch was already removed. Anyway they didn't put my JUN Ultralight flywheel back in. THey just resurfaced the stock one and put that in due to warrenty reasons. So as of this moment I have a new tranny, new Comptech/ACT clutch, etc... all covered under warrenty, which for me is a killer thing, especally since I only have 16,000 miles on my car. Oh yeah BTW- I have the extended warrenty for 7yrs, 100,000 miles!! can you believe that!!!! LoL Talk about a waist of money.

Some posts on TOO's board indicated that ACT sometimes breaks...TOO's personal recommendation is CM.

ACT is the ticket...

I recommend the AI4-XTSS for your application... and if absolute GRIP is preferred, and some additional chatter and mildly cranky starts are acceptable, go with the AI4-XT6.

By the way... let me know what the groupbuy price is and maybe I can match it.

The ACT are know to work great. TOO is the old place I've seen bad info on them. Around here and elsewhere CM is known to not work somtimes, some are shipped defective. However if you get a working CM clutch, its said to be awsome. The only bad news I heard was that on the old xtreme stuff (a year or so ago) the pressure plates sometimes would seperate and break the clutch itself.

I have the ACT Extreme pressure plate with a 6 puck. It chatters at times but has never let me down. I don't drive my car much but when I do I beat on it pretty good.

Drag raced many, many times last summer and is still working w/o any problems whatsoever.

Go with ACT.
